What do our clients say about us...
Pilates in Paxos with Lauren was the most marvellous and happy experience. Paxos
is a delightful island; we stayed on a high hill overlooking the sea with absolute
privacy for the 8 of us with a huge swimming pool just to ourselves! The
accommodation was lovely; designed in delightful grounds, a group of self catering
apartments, rather like maisonettes, with comfortable double beds (some 4 posters),
and separate double rooms for two/four people. We had a small private garden!
Pilates was in the open air under blue skies overlooking the bay. Breakfast was
organised by Lauren in a personal, almost “family” atmosphere with every choice of
breakfast possible – of the highest quality.
We had Pilates from 8.30-9.30am, and stretching from 5-6pm. Breakfast was from
10am till whenever. Thereafter, the days were our own to discover the different
beaches, travelling in small boats, walking or chilling by the pool. Lauren stayed
alongside to organise taxis/boats and to walk us down the different paths to the
town. Two nights were for the group to discover Lauren’s favourite restaurants – with
the sea lapping a few metres away and warm wind in our hair – and the best of
delicious Greek cuisine.
And the benefits of doing Pilates every day for a week with Lauren improved my
posture, muscle tone, balance and joint mobility. And in such a beautiful place! I
immediately booked for the following year...

"During Lauren’s Pilates in Paxos weeks you are one of a group of around eight people of varying abilities. The size of the group means she is able to concentrate on your individual needs.
The week also includes a one to one session to determine the best exercise programme for you.
Getting up early to attend an outdoor class looking out over spectacular views;
walking in the hills; visiting one of the beautiful local beaches or spending a quiet
day by the pool are some of the highlights of the holiday. Not to mention the delicious breakfasts.
There is another pilates/stretch or yoga class in the late afternoon before the opportunity to go to one of the many great restaurants on the island. Paxos is place that reminds people
of how Greece was 25 years ago - but with all the mod cons that come with staying
in a beautifully appointed villa. After two holidays there I can’t wait to return"!

Our group spent a glorious week in Villa Bella Vista high on a leafy hilltop on Paxos. The view alone is worth the stay; down to the picturesque port of Gaios and out across the Aegean to mainland Greece. My partner and I had a duplex to ourselves with a balcony on each floor with the same spectacular views. The villa, sitting serenely in its own splendid grounds dotted with olive trees, is owned and run by the Fougaros family; we had the personal, unstinting attention of Stefanos, son of the owner. The wonderful a la carte breakfast, good sized swimming pool and sun-loungers made it hard even to contemplate exploring the rest of the island - but you should; it's small but perfectly formed. We were part of a small group [eight] enjoying a fine blend of early morning Pilates classes [led by the lovely and highly professional Lauren] and R & R on one of the prettiest of the Ionian islands.
Gapyearboomers - Pilates Holiday 2014. Review from tripadvisor
The large and superbly situated villa is made up of several separate apartments but which worked excellently with our group of friends. Each apartment is spacious and well equipped for a very comfortable stay and has a balcony with a wonderful view over the picturesque harbour of Gaios and the sea beyond. The surrounding gardens are well landscaped with plenty of 'sitting areas', both sunny and more shaded. The good sized pool is a real delight and has plenty of sun-loungers for the less active. The villa and garden are set in the wooded hillside so providing a very tranquil environment. The villa is within walking distance - for the more active - of the small town of Gaios and of a handful of restaurants. The island of Paxos is an absolute gem with some of the most stunning beaches where the crystal clear water offers fantastic opportunity for all sorts of water based activities. Stefanos Fougaros, son of the owner, was very helpful and attentive to our needs and helped to make the holiday such a success.
We were there for a 'Pilates Holiday' under the superb tuition of Lauren McCarthy and she too ensured that this was a holiday experience we would not forget.

Review from tripadvisor.
This is a big and impressive villa with varying sized apartments and a very large swimming pool. This combined with its outstanding location in terms of the sea view make it a wonderful place for a holiday. The villa is well maintained and cleaned to a high standard. Although the villa is situated higher up (making it a cooler retreat after a day on the beach) and a car is therefore generally required to get around, there is a walking path which leads down to the small and pretty town of Gaios and its beaches . There are also many walks that can be done from the villa. Stefanos, of the Fougaros family is always available for any help or advice.
The 'icing on the cake ' are the courses of Pilates, which may be booked separately, held there by Lauren McCarthy, who is a superb and experienced instructor. The classes are held in the sunshine after which a delicious a la carte breakfast is served. What could be nicer?!

"I have been attending Lauren's classes for four years now. Whether you are a beginner or very experienced you will not find a better Pilates teacher. Lauren is Pilates Foundation trained and has the subtle skill of teaching you that essential body awareness, the patience to ensure your posture is perfect and a professional but warm nature. Lauren takes her craft seriously and to her it is a craft, not a packed and sweaty gym class, not a boot camp rep exercise class or even a relaxation mat session. She has a really good eye which enables class participants to safely develop their technique. With perfection you get results. In attending Lauren's classes I have managed to overcome the painful symptom of a damaged. nerve in my back, I am in great condition and I am pretty proud of how my body looks (and so is my boyfriend!) Don't trawl the bazaars guys, try one of Lauren's classes or check out Pilates in Barnes. You won't look back..."
